Apple's UK encryption fight: A UK court ruled that the country's government cannot keep secret the details of its tussle with Apple over data encryption. In January, the British government served the iPhone maker with a demand to circumvent encryption it uses to secure user data stored in iCloud.

Small businesses and tariffs: Independent businesses, which account for 60% of all products sold on Amazon alone, are already starting to raise prices in response to the Trump tariffs.

MercadoLibre's hiring spree: Latin America's most valuable company plans to ramp up investment in Brazil by 48%, to $5.8 billion this year, and add an additional 14,000 staff. The e-commerce operator in March announced a similar bump in spending plans for Mexico.

VC firm SignalFire has raised over a $1 billion to bet on AI startups, marking an unusually large fundraising haul in a difficult market. At the heart of SignalFire's strategy is a proprietary AI tool that it claims can spot market trends and help portfolio companies find talent.
