At the time, Best Buy was dismissed as "Amazon's showroom." Customers would walk in, handle the product, ask an employee for advice, then pull out their phones and order it online for less.  Wall Street analysts were certain that Amazon would kill the brick-and-mortar business. So they abandoned the stock. BBY shares spent two years in freefall. At the lowest point, the stock had shed three-quarters of its value.  But Best Buy didn't die. The stock recovered within a year of hitting that low. And by the end of 2021, shares had climbed more than 1,100% from their lowest point.  This extraordinary comeback was thanks to a CEO who understood that Best Buy needed to change with the times. And earlier this year, we saw a similar sell-off – not just in a company, but in a whole industry...  Nicknamed the "SaaSpocalypse" by Wall Street (for "Software as a Service apocalypse"), software stocks sold off hard at the beginning of the year.  This time, investor fears centered around new AI tools... And it looked like these tools could replace the software that consumers had spent decades paying experts to create. Investors panicked. They sold first and asked questions later.  One stock lost nearly half its value in a matter of months, priced for a future that hadn't happened yet. But like Best Buy, this story isn't over... And Claude Code and Claude Design especially seemed to confirm investors' worst fears.  With Claude Design, someone could generate professional-grade design work almost instantly based on a prompt... No additional subscription, training, or software license required.  Wall Street read it as a direct shot at Adobe's (ADBE) core business. Photoshop and Illustrator require a paid subscription and training to produce similar output. If a cheaper AI tool could do the same job with no formal training, Adobe's pricing model suddenly looked exposed. Investors didn't wait for evidence. About two months after Claude Design launched on April 17, Adobe shares were down 42% for the year.  The market was pricing in a future where tools like Claude Design gutted the pricey subscription business Adobe had spent decades building. Despite Adobe reporting record revenue and earnings per share on June 11, shares kept sliding. Investors had decided that AI was going to kill Adobe's business, and they had already moved on.  But in the past two months, the story has started to turn. Shares have climbed roughly 41% since their June low. What changed?   The Power Gauge Sees a Strong Stock According to the Power Gauge... not much. ADBE shares have been sitting at "neutral" or better all year. Even during the worst of the SaaSpocalypse...
