I’m talking about candy bars, shampoo, clothes, food, building materials... the list goes on.  In fact, I'm sure that many of our readers could send us pages of items that they remember being significantly cheaper. And unfortunately – prices will keep rising. While there's a lot that goes into inflation, one of the main drivers this year has been the rising cost of fuel. We're now five months deep into the Iran war. Not only did it bring the markets to the edge in March – it sent the price of fuel soaring across the country. And while gas prices have eased a bit since their latest peak in May, they remain elevated.  I'm not confident this conflict will wrap up anytime soon. And even if it does, restoring the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz won't be a quick task. Put simply, we're likely to be subject to elevated gas prices for the foreseeable future... But while we reach deeper into our wallets for gas money, one industry is beating earnings expectations left and right. And the stocks in this industry are making their investors wealthier by the day... If You Can't Beat Them – Buy Their Stock Naturally, I'm talking about the oil, gas, and consumable fuels industry. This industry is "strong" in the Power Gauge today. That's no surprise given the rising price of fuel and the subsequent earnings beats I mentioned above... However, there's one specific company I want to zoom in on within the industry: HF Sinclair (DINO). Now, HF Sinclair struggled heading into 2026. The stock underperformed the S&P 500 Index between December and February. And its Chaikin Money Flow indicator almost entirely remained deep red during that time as well. But when the U.S. and Israel launched their joint strike on Iran, shares of HF Sinclair popped up 8%. Since that initial wave of strikes, the stock has grown a massive 66%. And it has been far ahead of the S&P 500 Index for most of that time. These gains more than offset the 3.5% year-over-year Consumer Price Index inflation... Just take a look at the price action here. The Power Gauge gave HF Sinclair two "buy" alerts right after the conflict broke out. On March 2, a "Money Flow Buy" alert and "Reversal Buy" alert flashed on the stock. These two alerts were the first buy signals for HF Sinclair in 2026. And they signaled the start of the stock's new growth phase.
