A lot of traders spend their time chasing headlines. I prefer to focus on the numbers — and a few key internal charts that often give away the next big move before the indexes react. ![]() Right now, three of my favorite market oscillators are all telling the same story... I pull them up on TradingView, and they’re flashing signals that a pullback is coming — maybe not today, but soon. And how that pullback plays out could determine the entire direction of the next major leg. S5TW: The Fast Oscillator This one tracks the percentage of S&P 500 stocks above their 20-day moving average. It’s a short-term breadth gauge — and right now it’s extended near 90. When we get up here, the odds of a retrace spike. Every time we’ve hit this level recently, we’ve seen a move back to the bottom of the range. That doesn’t mean we crash immediately — but it does mean upside is limited unless we clear the zone decisively. A shallow pullback would be constructive. A deeper one? That sets up the bigger downside scenario I’ve been warning about. S5FI: The Midrange Oscillator This is the one to watch for confirmation. It’s slower than S5TW and gives more reliable signals once the move is underway. It’s been sitting near the bottom recently, which tells me that the last dip reset sentiment — but now we’re grinding back up. If this flips on the next pullback and holds, that could be your cue for a bounce. But if we keep grinding lower from here, it supports the case for a broader correction. S5TH: The Big Picture Oscillator This is the long-cycle one — the percentage of stocks above their 200-day. It doesn’t move quickly, but when it does, it matters. Even in major drawdowns, this oscillator tends to oscillate between extremes. What’s interesting is that even if we get a MASSIVE correction in the S&P 500 — like the kind that takes us all the way down to 2,000 — this oscillator will still cycle. It’s that reliable. The bottom line is all three of these oscillators are converging near critical zones. Whether we break out or break down from here will depend on what happens around FOMC. But no matter what, these internals are giving you a roadmap — and you’d be smart to follow it.
