In Today’s Masters in Trading: Live Yesterday, I made a bold prediction about where I see the markets heading in 2026... I told you that if the Federal Reserve continues stabilizing the front end of the market – and if bond volatility remains contained – the next four months could spark a whole new bullish run in the stock market. Of course, any weakness from here could signal the opposite. We have our prediction. Whatever happens next, volatility will be the biggest driver of market confidence or pessimism from here. That healthy, upward-sloping curve tells us risk is acknowledged but controlled — fear is not being pulled into the front end. Just like I told you yesterday, the Fed is continuing to stabilize the markets. That gives the stock market a lot of room to run in the near term. There are other signals we look for here as well. When uncertainty rises, we watch for short-dated volatility to spike. That usually signals stress and defensive positioning. In uncertain markets, a “nice shape” allows measured risk-taking. But curve distortions warn us to shorten duration and reduce exposure.
