You've likely seen Croydon on screen: The London borough — with its odd mix of skyscrapers, brutalist architecture and leafy suburbs — is a popular filming location for blockbusters including The Dark Knight Rises, in which it portrayed the fictional Gotham City. The borough is now hoping to shift the narrative, using its popularity for filming as a tool to boost the local economy and bring a positive light to the area, writes Marc Perrier. Today on CityLab: How This Chameleon UK Location Became a Little-Known Hollywood Backdrop
