Nintendo’s surprisingly big news week: Pokémon, Metroid, Switch 2, and more

Our top pick of the week: Switch isn't dead yet With all eyes locked on Nintendo's Switch 2 presentation happening next week — on Wednesday, April 2, at 9 a.m. EDT/6 a.m. PDT/1 p.m. GMT — Nintendo took the opportunity this week to sneak out quite a bit of other news. Most of that was in a Nintendo Direct presentation focused on the original Switch, which seems positioned to not go down without a fight.   Headlining the presentation were Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the latter of which showed up with a new trailer and confirmation of a 2025 release date. Beyond that, there was news on all sorts of smaller projects, from the return of Rhythm Heaven and Patapon, to the announcement of a 2D Marvel beat-'em-up, to the return of an old Atlus action-RPG in Raidou Remastered, to a new Gradius collection, and much more.   Nintendo also managed to slip out news on game ownership, the Zelda movie, and enhanced versions of Switch games for Switch 2.
