Our top pick of the week: Citizen Sleeper 2 |

Back in 2022, Polygon ranked Citizen Sleeper as the second-best game of the year. The dice-based RPG caught fire with our team thanks in large part to excellent writing that made us care about the story and its characters. This week, the series is back with Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, a sequel that doubles down on the challenging narrative and brings with it an incredible sense of tension across the board. "More than once while playing Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector, I found myself holding my breath in anticipation as I made a critical decision," wrote Jay Peters in The Verge's review. "As you play, you influence the story and complete missions by using dice, and that means that big choices are often subject to chance. When things went well, I would exhale and feel my body relax — that was, until I had to pick my next die." "When it was clear that I was approaching the end of Citizen Sleeper 2, I put off finishing it for a few days," wrote Diego Nicolás Argüello in Polygon's review. "[...] When I finally returned to finish the game, I tried to close as many characters' individual chapters as I could, and be proud of the future that they envisioned for themselves and the people around them. My crew had grown out from mere strangers who lent an extra hand to a community I could rely on. It was reassuring to commiserate on everyday issues, and understand that others shared similar hardships. I spent those 230 cycles making the effort for them. At its heart, Citizen Sleeper 2 is a gentle reminder that, together, we can even the odds." |

Spider-Man 2 just came out on PC, and it's already 15% off with a Steam code from Green Man Gaming. "This deal brings the cost of the PC version more in line with discounts we've seen on the PlayStation 5 version of the title, which currently costs $49.99 at Amazon," writes Cameron Faulkner. "That's great, considering how stuffed full of extra graphical features the PC version is." |
