Good morning, it's Harry here in Sydney with the news to start your week.

Today's must-reads:
• Pacific countries risk getting left behind on sustainable flying
• Anxious retirees aren't spending their pensions
• Western Australia mining ports face possible category 3 cyclone

What's happening now

The chief executive of Auckland Airport is worried about the industry's lack of progress toward decarbonization. New Zealand, Australia and neighboring Pacific nations need to address the lack of so-called sustainable aviation fuels together because the region is so distant from Europe and North America making our emissions loads bigger, CEO Carrie Hurihanganui said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Australia's superannuation system isn't providing enough guidance on how to spend money in retirement, causing people to be anxious about their future, a Grattan Institute report said.

New Zealand Finance Minister Nicola Willis will take on the additional role of Minister for Economic Growth as part of a cabinet reshuffle aimed at boosting the economy in 2025, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon said.

Key industrial ports in Western Australia closed ahead of a storm that could turn into a category 3 cyclone. Pilbara Ports Authority shut the Ports of Dampier, Ashburton, Varanus Island and Cape Preston West late Saturday as Tropical Cyclone Sean formed off the coast of Western Australia's iron ore-rich region, they said Sunday.

What happened overnight

It's at best, a longshot, but one that's emerged among a group of die-hard bond traders — that the Federal Reserve's next move on interest rates will be up, not down.

Israel and Hamas entered into a ceasefire, leading to the release of three female hostages held in Gaza. Israel will prepare to transfer 90 Palestinian prisoners, 30 for each hostage released. The US-backed deal stipulates that 33 hostages should be freed during the six-week truce.

TikTok started restoring service in the US after Donald Trump said he'd extend a deadline to sell the company after he takes office Monday. The app went dark Saturday night and Apple and Google's app stores removed the platform to avoid penalties. Trump said he'd seek a joint venture in which US-based owners take a 50% stake.

Donald Trump's return to power has investors sweating over which Chinese companies will be targeted by US sanctions or trade restrictions. A long-ignored Pentagon watch list is now drawing the attention of traders seeking clues about who might be next.

One more thing...

In case you haven't noticed, the rom-com is dead as a big budget feature film category. So if you can't get people to theaters to laugh along with a couple, maybe you can get them to scream along with them. "Rom-Horror" is in its ascendancy.
