Our top pick of the week: The Great Game: The Making of Spycraft |

Three and a half years in the making, Polygon's full-length documentary on Activision's 1996 adventure/espionage game Spycraft: The Great Game is here. The game, which was one of Bobby Kotick's early projects at Activision, and featured insight from controversial former CIA and KGB figures William Colby and Oleg Kalugin, was one of the most ambitious FMV projects of the '90s, and the story behind it goes to numerous unexpected places. "Years ago, when my colleague Clayton Ashley and I first sat down to play Spycraft: The Great Game, we were drawn to it by its inherent mystery: How did a game with such ambition and history fade into obscurity?" wrote Simone de Rochefort. "Today, we hope you join us in exploring that question, while dusting off this important piece of video game history and giving it the attention it has so long deserved." |
