You need wind to get moving, but that wind can come from different places.  In the world of stocks, the "wind" we’re talking about is volume and momentum — and sometimes that comes from market-wide catalysts, while other times, it comes from individual stock events like earnings or upgrades. If the market itself is providing the wind — like during a big economic event, say a Fed decision or a major jobs report — you don’t need as much individual stock-level action to make trades move.  It’s like a storm pushing your boat along — there's plenty of wind to get your trade going.  But when the market’s quiet — no major events on deck — you need to find that wind from individual stocks. That could mean focusing on companies getting upgrades, sector momentum, or anything else providing that volume and direction. Right now, we’re in one of those quiet spells...  There's not much "wind" from the overall market, so the onus is on individual stocks to provide the push. This week, we do have some minor reports, like the ISM and jobs data on Friday, but none of these are likely to shake things up too much. The market's waiting for the next big catalyst, and until then, I’m keeping an eye on sectors with momentum and the companies that are getting attention on their own. When the market gives you wind, ride it.  But when it doesn’t, you have to work harder to find those individual trades with their own momentum. That’s how you stay ahead in any environment.
