Biden-⁠Harris Administration Announces Key AI Actions

Bad actors get to utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the point of creating a fake AI voice phone call of Biden to voters in the New Hampshire primary election last week, the US President issued a landmark Executive Order. This Executive Order was to ensure that America keeps leading the way in seizing the promise and managing the risks of AI.

The Biden-⁠Harris Administration through the AI Council has announced Key AI Actions to strengthen AI safety and security, protect Americans’ privacy, advance equity and civil rights, stand up for consumers and workers, promote innovation and competition, advance American leadership around the world, and more.

Canadian Government to invest in a $1B Public Supercomputer

Yoshua Bengio, one of the world's leading artificial intelligence experts, and also a director of research at the Milan Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Montreal, is urging the Canadian government to invest in a billion-dollar public supercomputer. This is in a bid to keep and control private tech giants. Bengio says public agencies need this kind of supercomputing resource to have the digital power to monitor and regulate increasingly powerful AI systems developed by companies like Meta. Bengio argues the possibility of AI becoming more intelligent than humans and escaping control.

Nightshade | Tool against AI Image Generators

Image creators suffer the disrespect of having their work used to train AI images without their permission, even for financial benefits. Nightshade is designed to solve the problem. Nightshade alters the image data at the pixel level, giving the human eye one view, while the AI imagers interpret the images as something completely different. In this way AI image generators are fooled, mis-categorizing the images they use for text prompts, thus generating erroneous images that do not match what they were asked to do.

Paypal to launch Six AI-powered services

Paypal, a Fintech giant is ready to launch Six AI-powered services. These AI-powered services are embedded in their new products/features including Fastlane, Smart Receipts, and Advanced Offers platform, among others. The products/features will create a streamlined customer experience as the payment giant experienced a decline in their stock recently. Fastlane is aimed at reducing the time and tasks required to checkout. Smart Receipts is for personalized recommendations and rewards, while the Advanced offers platform will allow customers to access their purchase history.

GBTC Pressure Lost Power

Bitcoin Future Exchange Traded Funds by Grayscale has experienced great sell orders by the ETF holders. This can be traced to the fact that holders no longer need Grayscale's future ETFs called GBTC to be able to invest in Bitcoin in an indirect method. Moreover, they do not also need to buy the shares of Micro Strategy. With ETFs I place, people can buy Bitcoin with spot Exchange Traded Funds. The GBTC sell pressure has caused Grayscale to liquidate their funds, by selling spot Bitcoin on Coinbase, so that they can cover their payments to the holders.
